The annual Christmas pony sale at Allam’s saleyard last week again proved a major attraction.
A particularly nice grey gelding shown by Mr A Woodside of Ballyclare was knocked down to Mrs A McCullagh of Portglenone for the top price of 100 guineas.
Mr D McMillan of Saintfield also made 100 guineas for a chestnut filly foal. The buyer was Mr G Irwin of Dungiven.
A brown mare shown by Mrs McCullagh of Portglenone attracted keen bidding before the final offer of 100 guineas was accepted from a Moneyrea buyer.
Mr E McEvoy entered a grey mare which sold for 78 guineas to Mr J Legge of Carnlough. Mr Legge made 72 guineas for a bay mare which he sold to Mr E Brown of Donaghadee.
The second best priced filly at 70 guineas was shown by Mr R J Stothers and sold to Mr W Bailey of Greyabbey.
A bay gelding entered by Mr R J McEvoy sold for 69 guineas to Mr T McGeery of Belfast while Mr Henry Whiteside received 63 guineas from Mr M Purcel of Belfast for a chestnut filly.
Top prize for a Shetland pony of 37 guineas went to Mr B MIllar of Ballymena. The buyer was Mr J Toner of Kircubbin.
