Saturday past, June 18, was the 77th annual Saintfield Show, which was held at Glenbrook Farm with the kind permission of the Lawson family.
This was a wonderful event showcasing everything agricultural with a great array of attractions, quality farm animals, stalls and a wonderful selection of delicious refreshments available.
It was touch and go earlier this year if any poultry events would be held at shows but thankfully the avian flu restrictions were lifted at the beginning of June – allowing Saintfield Show to become the third to host a poultry section this year on the heels of Lurgan and Armagh shows.
There was a wonderful array of fowl breeds in great condition exhibited, with Ryan Liggett and Artie Rice doing the honours of judging this great range of poultry.
The show results are as follows:
Show Champion: Gordon Walker with a German Langshan Male;
Reserve Champion: Adams & McLaren with a Miniature Appleyard Duck;

Huge thanks to judges Artie Rice and Ryan Liggett. Also thanks to all those who helped out with the setting up and taking down of cages – it is a hard job but many hands make light work.
