A step further

50 Dec 3, 1968 Sign SM Farm

The sign outside Mr Robert McCullough’s farm at Eskeymedow, between Armagh and Keady, goes a step further than the usual cattle warning – it names the exact times when the animals are likely to be on the road.

Said Mr McCullough: “Obviously the sign only applies to the summer time, when the cows are not housed, and 9.30 until 10 in the morning and 6.30 until 7 in the evening seemed the best times for the journeys between the byre and the fields.

“Although we had a cow killed two months ago – after the sign was erected – I believe motorists are generally observing the warning,” he added.
