ANTRIM Chase have had a bumper year and managed to raise £2,000 for the Mae Murray Foundation at their annual Dinner Dance and Auction, thanks to their very generous members and friends.
For anyone who isn’t familiar with the charity this year, the Mae Murray Foundation was set up to allow people of all ages and abilities to take part in activities, experience the world and enjoy friendship together in an inclusive
environment. Their work includes delivering a range of innovative all-ability projects for different age groups, as well as designing and implementing permanent solutions in everyday environments to break down unnecessary barriers to participation.
Some of you may have seen their ‘beach buggies’ allowing people to access and enjoy the beach and the sea at Benone. They are also in the process of developing an Equi-Zone to facilitate therapeutic sessions, as well as teaching agility skills, horse care and stable management. This is a very worthwhile cause and supports local people.
A big thank you goes to all the Antrim Chase members, visitors and supporters, who opened up their land, built jumps and provided food to help make a fun and very successful season for all. All of the Saturday meetings were well supported, so much so that they have managed to amazingly raise approximately £10,000 for local charities!
These charities include: Air Ambulance; Ballyclare RDA; Dementia NI; Friends of Kilronan; Guide Dogs for the Blind; Ukraine Medical Supplies; Marie Curie; Ukraine Equine Fund; Macmillan Cancer Care; NI Children’s Hospice; NIKPA; Pretty in Pink; AAH Rheumatology Dept and The Lilly Foundation.
Who thought messing around in a field with a load of horsey people and their trusty steeds could be such fun!
Members are already looking forward to next season. All welcome, just contact Antrim Chase through their Facebook page.
