ARDNACASHEL Equestrian were very pleased to host their first Arena Eventing competition of 2022 on Sunday, January 9.
With classes from 70cm to 1m there was something for everyone and competitors were not disappointed competing over the flowing course of 10 show jumps and six cross country fences against an optimum time.
The day started with the 70cm and in a large class Zara Reid took first place with Kingsman Dave riding clear and closest to the optimum time.
With a slight adjustment a very well supported 80cm had numerous clear rounds, however, closest to the optimum time was Debbie Rush on Ollie. Debbie was very closely followed by Una McClelland on Tallaheady Blazer.
With another height adjustment the 90cm got under way and again had a high level of clear rounds. Sophie Bingham on All Being Well was the lucky rider closest to the optimum time with Jennifer Gilchrist on Bruno taking second place.
The 1m was the final class of the day and also proved the most challenging with only one clear round by Ruby Kincaid on Clonberne Beauty. In second place with four faults and closest to optimum time was Oliver Kinnear on Polar Man.
This competition doubled as a qualifer for the Pony Club Regional Barrier Health Spring Festival Championship in Scotland later this year. Many thanks to Fran McCormick, Nicky Magee-Burns and all other helpers from East Down Pony Club who assisted with the smooth running of the event.
Ardnacashel’s next Arena Eventing will run on Saturday February 12 and will also again incorporate a Pony Club Qualifier. As always entries are online at our website www.ardnacashelequestrian.co.uk
