AND that’s a wrap for Pony Clubs UK (PCUK) Tetrathlon Championships 2022. Area 17 went to the championships in Offchurch, Bury, England with a small team of seven tetrathletes and left with a haul of medals!
Iveagh Juniors, a mixed team of Beth Phillips, Beth Wishart and Harry Purdy had a fantastic competition, coming third overall.
Emily Maneely (Tullylagan), also in the junior competition, scored very highly and hopefully has the tetrathlon bug to come back again next year.
Alex Phillips (Iveagh), in her first year at Inter level, has made her mark at this high level, coming a brilliant 16th place with a very high score.
Patrick Williams (Seskinore), in his first year at Open level, has certainly shown his much older competitors that he is a force to be reckoned with, coming fifth overall and also taking home the prize for best shoot.
Sophia Williams (Seskinore), having spent the week with her UK Tetrathlon squad, has continued the success from the Senior Regional competition and came a high scoring ninth place.
Meanwhile, at the Senior Regionals, Area 17 Tetrathlon got off to a fantastic start at the competitions. Three athletes made the trip across to Somerset to compete in Senior Regionals Tetrathlon and Triathlon and the Senior International Tetrathlon.
Lauren Taylor from North Down Pony Club had a great result in her first Senior Regionals, taking eighth place in the hotly contested triathlon competition.
Patrick Williams from Seskinore Pony Club (and also representing Ireland) came a fantastic fifth place in the Open Boys Tetrathlon, with his Irish Team coming second overall in the Boys competition. This is a great result in Patrick’s first year at Senior level!
Sophia Williams, also Seskinore and representing UK, came an amazing fourth place in the Open Girls, where her UK team came second overall in the Girls competition.
