Autumn Working Hunter League kicks off at Ardnacashel

ARDNACASHEL Equestrian Centre’s Autumn Working Hunter League commenced on Saturday, October 2. On a full day of competition, organisers were lucky to have the weather on their side and even the sun made an appearance!

Sylvia Henry started off the day judging the pony classes, which included cross-poles, M & M and up to 90cm. Competitors showed off their mount’s rideability and manners before demonstrating their skill over a flowing course of natural fences, which were beautifully dressed by the Ardnacashel team. Organisers were delighted to see many beautifully turned out ponies and riders competing to gain points towards the League final, where prizes will include rugs and numnahs.

After the ponies and some quick course adjustments, the horse classes commenced, judged by Fiona Young. Fiona had the difficult task of choosing between numerous well turned out horses in classes from 70cm to 1m. The course presented a few challenges, but riders seemed up for this and an enjoyable afternoon’s jumping was had. The Ardnacashel Equestrian Centre Autumn Working Hunter League will run every Saturday for another five weeks, with the final on Saturday, November 6. Competitors will need to compete in four weeks to include the final to be eligible for a league prize. All entries are online via the Ardnacashel website and further details are on the Facebook page.
