Balmoral success as Young Event Horse qualifiers come to Meadows

THE Meadows Equestrian Centre, Lurgan played host to the second qualifier for Young Event Horses on Tuesday, April 9. With the class divided into two sections for four- and five-year-olds respectively, the competition is run in the same format as the equivalent classes in Dublin, under the watchful eye of judges in dressage (flatwork), show jumping and conformation phases.

In the four-year-old section, it was Colin Halliday that led the way with ‘GHS Calexico’ by ‘Van Gogh’, followed closely by Emma Jackson with the ‘OBOS Quality 004’ gelding ‘Mr Quality Cruz’.

Judges in the five-year-old section had a tough decision, with many nicely produced horses on display, after totting up the scores David O’Connor with ‘Kylestone Carrick Prince’ by ‘Carrick Diamond Lad’ secured the win.
