THE NI Beef Shorthorn Club launched a fundraising initiative in the form of a fully illustrated calendar in order to raise vital funds for the NI Children’s Hospice. The calendar featured many beautiful Beef Shorthorn cattle which had entered the online show held during Autumn 2020, representing breeders from right across the Province.
The online show had been judged by highly regarded Beef Shorthorn breeders Tommy Staunton, Caramba, and John Keane, Bushypark. It attracted over 100 entries and proved highly popular with breeders.
When the idea was launched to produce the calendar, Tommy Staunton kindly offered to sponsor the cost of publication through his business SCL Sales Ltd, whilst Agriimages sponsored the design and additional copies printed due to overwhelming demand. This enabled the full amount of monies raised to benefit the NI Children’s Hospice.
The calendar has been very well received with those who purchased a copy, with sales noted right across Ireland and Great Britain. The design work was created by the hugely talented Kathryn Shaw, who donated her time without charge.
Chairman for the NI Beef Shorthorn Cattle Club, Tom McGuigan, expressed thanks to all those who purchased, sponsored, and made a concerted effort to sell a a superb number of calendars which resulted in the substantial figure of £4,000 being raised.
Covid restrictions have curtailed many fundraising activities during the past 12 months, so the Beef Shorthorn Club felt that this was an innovative way to help this vital organisation.
