THE Livestock and Meat
Commission (LMC) has
extended congratulat-ions to David and Ryan McLaren, of Golan View flock, Dromore, County Tyr-one, after their Berrichon pair found favour with the judge and clinched the sheep interbreed pairs ch-ampionship title at Balmoral Show.
The LMC sponsored event
saw 20 entrants to the competition class, leaving the County Tyrone men
to fight off strong com-petition to claim the title. The class was judged by Andrew Walton from Northumberland. Following careful consideration, Mr Walton tapped out the Berrichon pair, making it a win for the County Tyrone exhibitors.
David McLaren said: “This is the first time Berrichon has been shown here and it is very good to see them going nearly as far as they can as a pair. It’s about getting them out there and making people aware of their commercial use.”
Reserve champion went to
a superb Charollais pair exhibited by Diane Christie.
Presenting the winners’ rosettes, LMC chief executive Ian Stevenson said: “I extend congratulations to David and Ryan McLaren and Diane Christie on receipt of these accolades.
“The exemplary standard of entries to this year’s competition is testament to the daily hard work and commitment of all exhibitors.”
Mr Stevenson extended the commission’s thanks to all those involved in planning and co-ordinating the event.
He said: “LMC was de-
lighted to provide spon-sorship for this event.
“We wish to take this opportunity to thank the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society for facilitating this competition, Mr Walton for
giving of his time and expertise to judge the com-
petition, and finally, all ex-hibitors – events like this would not be possible without their unwavering passion and commitment to showcase the very best of our local livestock.”
