BLANEY Group in Ahoghill is delighted with the results from its first two auctions, which were held to clear space for further expansion at its manufacturing plant.
Bidnet Auctions was appointed to hold the online auctions of agricultural/plant machinery and engineering equipment which com-prised of 1,000 lots.
Almost 1,000 people registered to bid, including registrations from Europe, and as far as Canada, Tanzania, Pakistan and India. Ireland customers accounted for 72 per cent of sales. The viewing days saw strong interest on specific items, though 90 per cent of buyers did not visit the site.
Orla, from Blaney Group, com-mented: “Bidnet Auctions had a tall order to pull off such a massive auction in just a few weeks. With a lot of the equipment still in use, a tight timescale, and the Blaney/Quad-X staff busy with their hectic pre-Christmas season, hundreds of lots were only able to be added the day before the auctions, which resulted in less competitive bidding, especially on the larger value first lots.
“Bidnet was also faced with hundreds of people trying to register and set up accounts at the last minute, which meant they could not be processed in time to bid online. We thank Bidnet for their professional approach and
for their ability to attract buyers from Ireland and from all over the world.
“This was a fantastic way to sell a large volume of equipment and assets in a short space of time to allow us to focus on the next phase of our expansion programme.”
Example prices were as follows: £8,000 for a 2019 Nissan Navara, 19k miles, £2,300 for a Honda quad, £5,500 for John Deere Gator, £350 for Toyota Rav 4 diesel, £2,900 for Ivor Williams cattle trailer, £1,250-£1,700 for Ivor Williams dropside trailers, up to £8,300 for excavator mulching heads, from £1,600 for hedgecutters, up to £2,500 for gritters, £2,000 for Toyota forklift, and £3,000 for 125kw generator.
General tools and engineering equipment and lathes sold out on the day with some items reaching above expectations.
Bidnet staff reacted quickly to develop a new platform to deal with the large number of enquiries coming in after the initial auction had closed. A buy it now or make an offer online sale is now live for all available agricultural machinery and engineering equipment with the sale closing at 2pm on Friday, January 28.
