RECORDS were broken at the Dungannon Farmers’ Mart Blue Texel Sale with ram lambs very much in demand and responsible for the top three prices of the day.
Dungannon Centre’s Blue Texel record price of 3100gns was achieved for Derg Churchill from Samantha and Allen Short. This March born ram lamb is out of a Cleenagh ewe and sired by Cleenagh Alfonso who was top price ram lamb at this sale in 2016. He has gone across the water to join Rhys Cooke’s Nantyderri Flock.
Second top price of the day was for another ram lamb where bidding stopped at 2900gns for Cleenagh Connor Mcgregor from Adrian and Clive Richardson. This February born triplet is sired by the 3200gns Hackney X-rated.
Third top price of the day was 2000gns, again for a ram lamb from Adrian and Clive Richardson, Cleenagh Congressman. This March born ram lamb sired by the 3800gns Solway View Bullet.
Topping the shearling rams was
the pre-sale overall champion, jud-
ged by Nina Smith, from Andrew Cowan, Tullyear TUL/17/02644 ach-ieving 820gns.
The female section was again very much sought after. Ewe lambs attained 100% clearance but achieving the top slots were shearling ewes, peakinging at 1900gns for Cleenagh Big Bird from Adrian and Clive Richardson. The Female Champion, Cleenagh Barbados from Adrian and Clive Richardson, achieved 1300gns.
Sale averages – 14 shearling rams 470gns (£494.55); 18 ram lambs 910gns (£955.50); 12 shearling ewes 865gns (£908.25); 22 ewe lambs 500gns (£525).
