THE Jubilee Show at Gransha Equestrian Centre, Bangor was a busy affair! The finals of the Equine Awards NI Mini and Junior Dressage and Show Jumping Rising Star classes were the most important of the day.
Children all over Northern Ireland have been competing to qualify for these finals since early in the Spring and it was amazing to have 20 finalists in the Mini section of the Dressage, with 12 in the Junior section.
The classes were judged by Dressage Judge, Elaine Morrow, assisted by son John. On completion of the classes, Elaine commented that the standard across all the competitors was exceptional and that the improvement she saw from the first qualifier she judged to the high standard in the final was clearly due to hard work and determination by the young riders, their parents and coaches!
The winners, Grace Jackson riding ‘Trigger’ and Charlotte McCollough riding ‘Burnished Denman’ received tickets worth £300 each to attend the Equine Awards NI Gala Event on Saturday, June 25, where they will receive their Bursaries.
The winners of the Equine Awards NI Show Jumping Rising Stars, Sophie Herron riding ‘Heart of Gold’ and Niamh Devlin on ‘Pio’ also received the same prizes and will receive their Bursaries on June 25.
Thanks must go to all the judges on the day: Anglea Fynn taking care of the Show Jumping Arena; Dawn Kennedy in the Handy Hunter and Working Hunter arena and Fran Warden in the Showing ring.
The next event at Gransha is the Summer Gymkhana and Fayre on July 2. The schedule will be out on June 10.
