CAFRE goes to Coca-Cola

CocaCola TD Farm
VISIT: National Diploma students Orla Lavery, Rachel Anderson and Beth Cochrane at Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company.

LOUGHRY’S National Diploma programmes in food are a perfect combination of theory-based learning and practical based experience, ensuring students fully understand all aspects of food manufacture.

Part of this is to understand how the classroom theory is transferred to the workplace. The close links that CAFRE has with the food and drinks industry in Northern Ireland help to support this learning through a range of visits to various food and drinks businesses.

National Diploma food students from Loughry recently visited Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company’s state of the art processing site at Knockmore Hill, Lisburn.

At Coca-Cola, the students were able to learn how the business is working continually to overcome challenges to become environmentally friendly. The students also learnt about the long history of bottling this famous beverage in Northern Ireland and how it is a truly local product, sourcing all the water for

the products from local sources.
