A TRAINING show in Downpatrick Mart for young people with a passion for rearing and showing young stock proved popular.
Organised by the NI British Blue Cattle Club with support from the Bank of Ireland, the calf show was a follow on from a young handlers’ event in Armoy earlier this autumn.
Club chair Basil Dougherty affirmed that the theme of educating young people was running through British Blue cattle breeders activities this year.
He also warmly thanked Dan Rodgers, who was judge for the day in Downpatrick, and noted that the catalogue is available on line at www.britishbluecattle.org for the show and sale in Dungannon Farmers’ Mart on Friday, October 5.
Judging is at 10am with a tri breed sale of British Blue, Simmental and Blonde stock from 12.30pm. An ideal outing for any dairy or suckler herd owner seeking a bull that adds value to every calf born.
