SATURDAY, December 4 saw week three of the Ardnacashel Equestrian Centre, Comber’s Christmas Jumping League. Competitors came dressed in their best Christmas jumpers to compete in a range of classes from cross-poles to 1.20m, with a prize to the best dressed. This week, Annabelle Gill, who rode her lovely pony ‘Gracie’ clear in the 60cm, took the prize and was more than happy with her selection box.
In the cross-poles class, Lily Henderson and her sister Rose Henderson both had lovely clear rounds. The 60cm class was next, with three clears from Hannah Bayfield, Annabelle Gill and Holly Blythe.
The 70cm class was next, with Amy Cope winning the class in a time of 31.22 seconds on ‘Buckaroo’. Moving on to the 80cm and, in a strong class, Suzanne Davis won in an amazingly quick time of 21.76 seconds on ‘Haydens Star’. Behind her in second place with a difference of nearly three seconds was Poppy Smith on ‘Paddy’.
In the 90cm class, Poppy Smith took first place on her super consistent ‘Paddy’, with Elaine Morrow on ‘Daisy’ in second. Elaine then moved up to the 1m class, taking first place, with Lesley Jones on ‘Max’ behind her.
The 1.10m and 1.20m classes were dominated by Emma Jackson on ‘Danni’, with Corey Mawhinney on ‘Aine’ second in the 1.10m and Lesley Jones on ‘Christy’ second in the 1.20m.
