SALLY Corscadden’s Irish Eventing team finished in seventh place overall at the 2021 FEI Eventing European Championships, which took place at Avenches in Switzerland.
Ireland were 11th of 13 teams following the opening Dressage phase and climbed six places to fifth after an impressive Cross-Country performance on Saturday. At the conclusion of the final Show Jumping phase, Ireland finished in seventh place overall on a final score of 141.4.
Britain claimed the gold medal on 73.1, with silver going to Germany on 86.4, while Sweden took home the bronze on 113.9.
Clare Abbott with ‘Jewelent’ (ISH) finished best of the Irish individually in 14th place. Sam Watson with ‘Ballybolger Talisman’ (ISH)[TIH] finished 33rd, just ahead of Padraig McCarthy with ‘Leonidas II’ in 34th, while Cathal Daniels with ‘LEB Lias Jewel’ (ISH) finished 43rd. All three individual medals were won by British riders.
Meanwhile at Ballindenisk International in Co. Cork, Michael Ryan and ‘Claragh Mountain’ took victory in the NutriScience CCI4*-S.
