Country music is all about storytelling with many subjects and themes appearing again and again through the generations of singers and songwriters.
In a new six-part series, Nathan Carter’s Country Themes, on BBC Radio Ulster and BBC Sounds, beginning on Sunday, May 23, at 6.30pm, the Fermanagh-based singer/songwriter picks out some themes and plays some songs that relate to them.
There will be old and new songs, classic tracks and hidden gems from some of the world’s top country music performers, covering everything from dancing and driving to faith and families.
Dancing is the theme of the first episode so Billy Jo Spears will be waltzing, Brooks & Dunn will be line dancing and Lee Ann Womack, The Chicks and Brad Paisley will all be on the dance floor.
Nathan said: “I am absolutely delighted to be presenting this new six-part series and will be looking at some of the many themes from the world of country music and playing plenty of great tunes both old and new.
“So whatever you do don’t miss it, available on both BBC Radio Ulster and BBC Sounds.”
