THE Northern Ireland Sim-mental Cattle Breeders’ Club has announced that plans are well underway for its National Show, which will take place in conjunction with Armagh County Show at Gosford near Markethill on Saturday, June 11.
Club chairman Keith Nelson said: “Our inaugural National Show in 2019 was a huge success, attracting more than 60 entries from pedigree herds across the country. We’ve missed two years due to the pandemic, but we are delighted that the National Show will resume again in 2022.
“The one-day event has attracted considerable interest from spon-sors, and we are pleased to confirm that the prize fund boasts in excess of £4,000.”
Generously supported by prin-cipal sponsor Danske Bank, the National Show is also sponsored by businesses and agricultural com-panies, Noel Kilpatrick Financial Services, T-Met, Irwins Feeds, Moocall, Biocell Agri, Thompsons, ABP Newry, British Simmental Cattle Society, Animax, Yara Fertiliser, George Hamilton Machinery and Countryside Services.

Closing date for entries is strictly Wednesday, June 1. The schedule for the show features 12 classes for cows, heifers, bulls and calves, plus two classes for young handlers aged 8-12, and 13-18.
This year’s show will be judged by British Simmental Cattle Society president Stewart Stronach from the noted Islavale herd based in Grange, Keith, Banffshire.
Prize money in the livestock classes includes £100 for first, £75 for second, £50 for third and £25 for fourth. Championship winners will receive cash prizes and crystal awards presented by Danske Bank.
Special awards will include the DANI Rosebowl for the best performance recorded junior bull, and a prize for the exhibitor gaining the most points at the show.
Online entries and payment are preferred via the show’s website. Click top right of computer screen to access drop-down box, and select ‘entries’. Select ‘Simmental’, and click on the desired class(es) to complete the entry details.
