The ‘meet the artisans’ tours series, hosted by Lough Neagh Partnership, continues this Saturday (June 18) when visitors can immerse themselves on a food and culture tour experiencing life on the south and west shoreline of Lough Neagh with a visit to Noreen’s Nettles.
With a coach departing from Belfast at 10am via Moira, guests will meet Noreen, a lady passionate about nettles and their nutritional properties.
Guests will enjoy a bowl of nettle soup while Noreen demonstrates the art of making nettle fifteens!
Then you will be transported to Coyles Cottage, where you will be able to see how a fisherman lived in this traditional thatched cottage.
You’ll meet Gary, a seventh generation fisherman who will demonstrate the art of eel skin tanning while he shares stories of his life on Lough Neagh.
Coach will return visitors back to Belfast at the end of the tour.
Eimear Kearney, Marketing Manager at Lough Neagh Partnership, said: “At Lough Neagh Partnership we have developed this Lough Neagh Tours series to give visitors an opportunity to meet local people and immerse themselves in experiencing what life is like on the Lough Neagh shoreline.
“These tours provide an opportunity to showcase the local produce grown, manufactured and created by members of the Lough Neagh Artisans Group to the public.”
