NATIONAL show jumping received a boost last week, with the announcement that Coolmore is coming on board as joint sponsor of the Premier Show jumping Grand Prix Series. This is a joint partnership with Show jumping Ireland.
The series, which will now be called the ‘Coolmore/ Show jumping Ireland Premier Grand Prix Series’ will take in four rounds, plus the finale in Mullingar in July. The series once again boasts a prize fund of close to €100,000 and will see top riders battle it out for the coveted title. Each leg will carry a minimum prize fund of €15,000 and, along with the lucrative prize fund, the overall leading horse and rider combination will be crowned ‘Irish National Show Jumping Champions’ for 2022. TRM Ireland has also come on as product sponsors of each round.
As in previous years, the top two rider/ horse combination in the series will also take their place in the international arena in Dublin Horse Show.
The first round will take place in Portmore Equestrian Centre, Aghalee on Sunday, May 1. The remaining rounds are at Barnadown on Sunday, May 8; National Balmoral on Sunday, July 10; Tattersalls on July 24 and the Grand Final in Mullingar on July 31.
At the launch at Karlswood Stables, Jerome Casey of Coolmore said: “Coolmore are delighted to support the newly titled ‘Coolmore, Show jumping Ireland Premier Grand Prix Series’. This series provides top level show jumping nationally and both Coolmore and Show jumping Ireland’s objective is to provide for the constant growth and development of the series.
“The Coolmore/ Show jumping Ireland Premier Series will once again provide classes that develop riders and horses toward top National and International level competition, the series has in past years been the production ground for many of our International Team Riders and Horses and we hope that it will continue to do so.
“This series also provides vital exposure for the Sport and Industry, and we hope will encourage additional investment in the many shows and venues and indeed the riders involved in the sport and industry. It is also hugely important to the breeders and producers, who will have the ability to compete and showcase at Premier events.
Coolmore looks forward to the 2022 series and what we expect will be a well-supported and competitive series to be held at some of Ireland’s best shows and venues throughout the country,” Jerome concluded.
“Following on from a very successful 2022 TRM Spring Tour League, TRM are delighted to continue their support for Irish show jumping. Now, alongside Coolmore and SJI, TRM will be product sponsors for the 2022 Premier Grand Prix series. It is fitting that the highest level of show jumping in Ireland is supported by two Irish organisations that are renowned the world over for excellence. We wish all competitors every success,” said Raoul Masterson, Managing Director of TRM.
Chairperson of SJI National Competitions, Marguerite Ryan said: “We are delighted to welcome Coolmore on board as sponsors. This series is the main showcase of Irish show jumping and has served as a platform to help top Irish riders and horses advance onto the international circuit. We are delighted to have a sponsor of the stature of Coolmore, whose aim is excellence, now in place to assist us in developing this series further. I would also like to acknowledge TRM’s continued support of Irish show jumping as a product supplier to the series. I would like to thank all the parties who were involved in arranging this sponsorship package, which bodes well for our 2022 National Circuit.”
