Jingle all the way to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough to enjoy a magical Christmas experience

The council has unveiled details of a cracking new and expanded programme of festivities for Christmas 2018.

From twilight markets and carol singing to art and craft workshops, street entertainers and shopping experiences, towns and villages from Lurgan to Keady and Dromore to Loughgall – and everywhere in between – the borough is all set for its best Christmas yet.

Its brand new festive programme, ‘The Magic of Christmas All Around’, provides residents and visitors alike with a show-stopping range of activities to enjoy from as early as Saturday, November 10, right through to Christmas Eve, while also incorporating a busy schedule of Christmas light illuminations.

Last year the borough welcomed a record number of visitors from right across Northern Ireland and beyond to enjoy its sensational shopping, dining, entertainment and events.

Lord Mayor Julie Flaherty said: “Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year and there’s no place like the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough to experience the festive season at its very best.

“It’s a unique and special time to spend with family, friends and colleagues and this year we have gone the extra mile to create a fantastic programme of Christmas-filled experiences.”

Included in the top attractions this year will be the award-winning Armagh Georgian Festival, which runs from November 22-25 and offers a packed schedule of unique events for history buffs, tourists, families and foodies alike.

Other standout events include ‘The Mystery of the Christmas Star’ at Armagh Planetarium, a ‘Yuletide Evening with the Celts’ and a ‘Winter Solstice’ at Navan Centre and Fort, snow tubing with Santa at Craigavon Golf Ski Centre, a live nativity at Tannaghmore Animal Farm, Aladdin Panto Spectacular at the Market Place Theatre and Christmas Craft Fair at the FE McWilliam Gallery and Studio.

“With great places to eat, drink and visit – and with so much to enjoy – we look forward to warmly welcoming everyone to celebrate Christmas with us this year,” Ms Flaherty said.

A brochure has been delivered to every home in the borough, enabling families to peruse the programme and choose the events they wish to attend in celebration of the festive season. It’s advisable to book early for the more popular activities.
