THE County Down Traction Engine Club will kick off its 2023 season by holding its annual Spring Tractor Road Run on Easter Tuesday (April 11) in the Killinchy area, starting from 72 Killyleagh Road, just a mile or two south of Balloo crossroads. It will leave sharp at 1pm so entrants need to be there well in advance for registration purposes – registration opens at 11am so best to be there early.
The tractors will leave the yard turning left on to Killyleagh Road, left into Tullycore Road, on to the Ballymorran Road, Ringdufferin Road, Ringdufferin lane, Ballymorran Road (again), then Quarterland Road, returning to Ballymorran Road yet again before progressing on to Bayview Road and then Main Street, Killinchy where it turns right heading for Whiterock.
It then proceeds along Whiterock Bay, Ballydorn Road, Killinakin Road, Ardmillin Road, Ballymartin Road, Craigacaskey Road and Comber Road before returning to it’s starting point on the Killyleagh Road.
The route is also suitable for cars and 4x4s but not lorries and the minimum donation is £15 per vehicle and £5 per passenger. Refreshments will be provided upon return to the yard.
Proceeds from the event will as usual be donated to genuine worthy causes (yet to be decided).
