On Saturday, April 13, Muckamore Women’s Institute entered a play, “Game of Scones” in the Drama Festival of the Federation of Women’s Institutes of Northern Ireland.
This play was both written and produced by Elizabeth Gray. She had a cast of 12 talented members, Sharon Carson, Elizabeth Gray, Lynda Brown, Irene McCullough, Margaret Dean, Jean McCollam, Joan Gray, Liz McConnell, Iris Maughan, Colette Meenan, Alison Graham, and Margaret Bent.
Their acting talents shone through as they were awarded seven trophies.
These ladies for Muckamore WI were awarded the May Mitchell Trophy for the best performance of a play/sketch written by a WI member.
Elizabeth Gray received two trophies, the Ulster Cup for First Overall Play and the Robert Smith Trophy for Best Producer.
Sharon Carson received the Nan Whyte Trophy for Best Overall Actress and Irene McCullough was awarded the Christine McKeown Memorial Cup for Best Supporting Actress in a play written by a WI member.
Jean McCollam received the Ivy Pentland Cup for Best Supporting Actress in the Festival and Collette Meenan won the Cuthbertson Rosebowl for Best Costume in a play.
After much dedication and rehearsing, they deserved these awards and are looking forward to preforming it again, to raise money for the Air Ambulance NI charity.
