Drumcree boys turn to farming

Drumcree Boys’ Brigade have turned to farming as a means of raising company funds.

Six boys, under the guidance of Mr Tom Tedford, company captain, have cultivated two and a half acres of land and have grown potatoes, apples, cabbage and parsley.

Some of the vegetables are taken to Belfast markets and the rest are sold privately.

A few of the boys have small plots of their own, the profits from which will go towards a Continental trip next year.

“The boys work the plots every day after school and they seem to enjoy the country life,” said Mr Tedford.
