East Tyrone Group gears up for grass talk

CHAT: Outgoing Chairman Billy Armstrong with UFU Group Manager Pamela Cousins, meeting to discuss the East Tyrone Group’s upcoming meeting.

THE Ulster Farmers’ Union East Tyrone Group is set to hold its final meeting for the 2018/2019 term. Outgoing Chairman Billy Armstrong has arranged for David and Kyle Johnston to discuss with members the potential of grass.

The Johnston family have always had a strong interest in grass – their family connections in the grass seed business go back over 100 years with David retiring last summer after 39 years of service with AFBI.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 9, at 8pm in the Royal Hotel, Cookstown. Billy, who has been an active member of the UFU for over 50 years, has worked closely with David on improving grass quality on farm and has always respected his input.

Billy said: “From a young age I have attended group meetings and I have found that these meetings are a way of learning from industry experts and from others who have shared, first hand, their knowledge and experiences with group members.”
