THE Irish Equine Rehabilitation and Fitness Centre (IERFC) is delighted to announce that Dr Kathryn Nankervis (BscMsc CVPM), one of the UK’s leading professionals on equine biomechanics is attending the IERFC to deliver a seminar on ‘The Physiology and Biomechanics relating to Equine Physical Therapy and the Application of Hydro-Therapy’ on September 20.
The centre will be running two sessions:
– One aimed at veterinary surgeons, clinicians, dentists and farriers (accredited by the Veterinary Council Ireland),
– The other for instructors, coaches and the general public (accredited by Horse Sport Ireland).
Dr Nankervis set up the renowned Equine Therapy Centre at Hartpury in 1999, where she continues to oversee its teaching and research activities, as well as lecturing at post graduate level and contributing to the MSc Veterinary Physiotherapy programmes at The Royal Veterinarian College, Liverpool University and Hartpury College.
In addition, she is the co-author of the ‘Equine Exercise Physiology’ and has carried out extensive studies into the effects of water treadmill exercise and, in particular, the biomechanical responses to the depth of water used in this type of exercise.
