Excitement as virtual dressage league final approaches

- Advertisment -

EXCITEMENT is certainly heating up as Dressage at Home and International held the penultimate show of their Spring Into Dressage League on the weekend beginning March 27.

Riders from all over Ireland and the UK entered the show, which has a range of varied classes to suit all levels and ages.

The company had again whopper entries and what better way to spend a lockdown weekend than riding and celebrating all of the rider’s equine hard work and success?

Company owner, Emma Hobson, stated: “I am so incredibly delighted for all of the riders – a heartfelt and huge well done from me. I get so personally invested with all of the riding and progress, so it is simply wonderful to see the progression and be part of the journey. Thank you.”

A special mention needs to go to so many riders in these classes:

* Those competing at the top levels – their amazing dedication, hours of training and talent has all paid off – well done! These athletes are the guys a lot of riders aspire to be.

* Those riders trying something new, such as the in-hand dressage, the freestyle to music or the jumping classes. Emma says: “I think it’s amazing that they’re out there trying new classes and disciplines. Trying new classes and skills is definitely a great idea to help keep the training fresh and give riders and their equines a bit of variety!”

* The kiddies – they can show everyone how to do it! Emma says: “We have riders as young as FIVE years old in the jumping classes! It’s incredible and definitely the riders to watch for the future! And, not to forget, the lead rein competitors heading out there taking their first dressage steps. This is what memories are made of.”

* The RoR riders… hats off to you! Emma says: “Retraining is never an easy or a smooth ride. These riders have not only excelled at this, but they have gifted these horses with a whole new lease of life and discipline. That is something to always be proud of and admired.”

Well done all of the riders! And thank you, as always, to the amazing judges: Jenny Johnston, Lucinda Webb Graham and Martina McKinley! As a company, Emma puts a lot of time and effort in, ensuring they have the best judges from all of the UK. These judges are constructive, professional and encouraging. One thing Emma never likes to see is a rider walking away never wanting to head up that centre line again and the judges are chosen to ensure this never happens.

Emma says: “I’m sure the riders will all agree that the feedback from the judges at this show was simply fantastic.”

Entries are open and already coming in for the final show of the league this weekend. Please remember that anyone can join in: it runs as a stand alone show, as well as a league final. New faces are always welcome.

After this league, the company has been asked if they will run another. The answer is yes! This time they hope to include more classes, such as a pole vault class, which will include riding a test over a pattern of trotting poles; a side saddle class and further diversify the show jumping class into heights, junior and senior riders.

The company has also just launched their new website: www.dressageathome.com and it’s now even easier to enter. Full details and a rider’s gallery are on there for everyone to have a look at.

Further information on future show dates etc are available on the Facebook page or the website.
