Exciting return to 2023 competition at Lusk’s

LUSK Equestrian hosted their first competition of 2023 on Sunday, January 29, the first of their three Winter/ Spring Working Hunter shows.

The weather was kind, the arena in pristine condition and owners and riders eager to get experience with their young horses and ponies, and fun for the more seasoned mounts.

Emma Jackson, as usual, showed that she is always the one to beat, winning three classes on the day and a number of placings. The late Maeve Chadwick would no doubt be looking down from above and maybe with some advice, as her lovely brown gelding, ‘Densil’ won the 90cm class under the direction of Jim McShane (neither horse nor rider in the first flash of youth!).

Pony classes were well supported, seeking NIF Qualifying places, with Lily Murphy, Jocelyn Hutchinson, Ted Geary Sophie Bingham, Erin Mathieson and Poppy McMurray all successful on the day.
