Hi, I’m Emily Webb and I have just graduated with a 2.1 Honours Degree in Equine Management from CAFRE, Enniskillen Campus.
I am originally from Cornwall and I took the decision to go to CAFRE’s Enniskillen Campus when I was 16 to do the full-time BTEC Level 3 programme. I liked the fact that the campus was small, friendly and had excellent practical facilities.
After completing my Level 3 I progressed directly on to the three year Honours Degree programme.
One of the highlights of my time at CAFRE was getting the opportunity to go on the equine study tour to Kentucky in March of this year. This was a fantastic experience for the seven students who travelled. We visited some top class equestrian businesses, including Lane’s End Thoroughbred Stud, Coolmore America at Ashford Stud, the Kentucky Horse Park and Hagyard Equine Medical Institute. We met a number of CAFRE Equine graduates who are working out in Kentucky.
I also played a key role as chair of the Student Representative Council during my final year at CAFRE. This was a privilege as in addition to helping organise a number of student events, including the Hallowe’en Spook trail and the Christmas formal, I had the opportunity to meet a number of visitors to the campus including Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal and Madame Zhang, the Chinese Consul General in Northern Ireland. We also fundraised for Action Mental Health and received a Head First award for our efforts.
I have recently started work near Navan in County Meath with the Castlebridge Consignment, run by Bill and Tara Dwan.
