Full steam ahead for young stars

ALL roads lead to Dungannon Farmers Market on February 26 for the annual Commercial Cattle NI “Young Stars” event as part of the NBA Beef Expo.

With large numbers of high quality calves already entered from top producing herds across Northern Ireland it has grown into a must go event to get your show animal ahead of the summer shows.

Club chairman Robert Simpson met up with Ireland Genetics sales rep Bernard McKenna at the farm of Emmett Kelly in Augher, County Tyrone, to discuss the plans for the young stars show and sale event.

Emmet and farm worker Nathaniel are in full swing preparing his top quality Limousin heifer calves for the show and sale.

With classes for Limousin, British Blue, Charolais, any other breed and Native there is sure to be a star for the future.

Commercial Cattle NI is indebted to Ireland Genetics for becoming sole sponsor of the ever-growing event.

Ireland Genetics is the International arm of the National Cattle Breeding Centre (NCBC) based in Naas, Co. Kildare.

Sale rep for Ireland Genetics, Bernard McKenna, said: “We are looking forward to working with the commercial cattle club at this event.

“We will be having show special deals on semen on the day, so call onto our stand to have at chat to our sales team.”

A new beef catalogue will be launched at the Ireland Genetics stand featuring top performers.
