READY AND WAITING: Shetlands waiting for their classes at the Country Comes To Town Native Show. (FW39-576NN)

ON Saturday, September 15, Country Comes To Town Native Show took place in Portadown, as part of the Country Comes To Town festivities. It has now been running for a number of years and there was certainly a good turnout on this occasion. Thanks must go to the judge, Shawlene Leabody and steward Katrina Griffin, who worked tirelessly all afternoon. Thank you also to the site management and security at the Meadows shopping centre, for all their help on the day and the use of the venue for parking.

The day started with a ridden section, followed by the In-hand section and then the Family Pony section. With some good classes, the judge found her Champion for the ridden section in ‘Mountcaufield Sadie Rose’, ridden by Heather Steele from Castlewellan, with reserve going to ‘Paddington’ ridden by Amelia Wheeler, Waringstown.

RED RIBBON: ‘Little Miss Molly’, ridden and handled by Taylor-lee Doyle with one of the red rosettes they won at the Country Comes To Town Native Show. (FW39-575NN)

The In-hand championship was won by ‘Pineview Oberon’ handled by Anthea Steele, Castlewellan, with reserve going to ‘Jessie’ handled by Tia Morrison, Portadown. The Family Pony classes were, as always, well supported with the Young Handler class having eight entries forward. It was fantastic to see so many children enjoying their ponies!

The Family Pony section champion went to ‘Little Miss Molly’, ridden/ handled by Taylor-lee Doyle, Portadown, with reserve going to ‘Paddington’, ridden by Amelia Wheeler, Waringstown.

It was then the turn of Mr Eamonn Fleming, Country Comes To Town’s joint chairman to judge the supreme and reserve of the show.
