TAMNIARN Annual Ch-
arity Gymkhana, or as it’s usually called, ‘Hughie’s show,’ was
held by Mid Ulster Show Jumpers on Saturday, June 25. A huge thank you is extended to all the supporters – who have been attending for years and possibly perfected their skills at this show! It was lovely to see them all back again to support the show, but also lovely to welcome all the newcomers!
Organisers hope that ev-
eryone will be back to support Mid Ulster Show Jumpers, as they hope to run a show in July and August – dates to be confirmed.
The day started off wet, but by the time entries were made and classes were started, the sun was shining. The judges on the day were Nicola McIvor Henry (horses), Sam McMaster (ponies) and Iso-bel Mawhinney (games). A big thank you to them for a job well done. Lyndon McKee Photography did a fabulous job, as usual – he’s certainly not one for only fair weather days!
Thanks also go to Debbie, Lindsey and Tamsin, who kept everyone supplied with
burgers and sausages. Fin-ally, thanks to the staff taking entries, looking after trophies, rosettes and the big cups!
Most of all, the man who deserves the biggest thank you of all is Mr Jonjo Bright and family from Lylehill Farm, who donated a huge meat hamper from their home-reared and produced herd. They provide a complete farm to fork service, with delivery to your door! Check them out on Facebook! This hamper was raffled and the winner was drawn by his dad – the lucky winner was Michaela Carlin, who incredibly kindly donated it to Castlehill Residential Home, Castledawson to the great delight of the chef, staff and residents!
The gymkhana raised a lot of funds, with donations still coming in. This is going to be divided this year between Marie Curie and Castlehill Residential Home entertainment fund. Marie Curie provided an invaluable service to Hugh and his family last year. Hugh was the founder of Tamniarn show 50+ years ago and the family were proud to carry out his wishes to keep the show running in his name. He is sadly missed by his family and competitors alike; his comments, quips and good-hearted banter made the show special. A beautiful cup was presented by his family in his memory and was won on the day by long-term supporter, Aiden Bell.
Many thanks again to all involved -the total raised so far has exceeded £2,400.
