THE best laid plans for the 2020 National Pony Society (NPS) Area 32 Shows were sadly and abruptly cancelled due to the impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic and subsequent lockdown. A sad and difficult decision for the NPS Area, but the right one to protect the safety of the competitors, judges, stewards and officials.

On a brighter note, the cancellation has provided the opportunity to highlight the Area’s wonderful memories over the last decade of the Championship Shows, which are held annually at Clogher Valley on the last Wednesday in July.

SUPREME 2017: Joe Cleland and ‘Budore Sir Norman’ were named NPS Area 32 Supreme Pony in 2017. (FW32-530NN)

The NPS Area is indebted to Clogher Valley Show Committee for hosting the Championship finals and sponsoring the very generous prize fund. The exceptional hospitality extended by Clogher Valley Show in annually welcoming NPS competitors and officials is greatly appreciated by all involved.

Organisers are indebted to the nominated Agricultural and Society Shows for annually hosting NPS Area qualifiers throughout the showing season.

On behalf of the NPS Area 32 Committee, sincere thanks and appreciation are extended to all secretaries for annually collating and submitting qualifying show results in advance of the Championships.

SUPREME 2016: James Cleland and ‘Budore Big Jim’ were named NPS Area 32 Supreme Pony in 2016. (FW32-529NN)

The NPS Area 32 Committee looks forward to meeting up with all the competitors in 2021; in the meantime, take care and stay safe.
