ETHICAL, eco-friendly horsecare brand, Honest Horse, is delighted to welcome a new addition to its range of horsecare products, Mane and Tail Elixir. In addition to being incredible for the mane and tail, it has superb eco credentials too.
The multi-purpose mane and tail serum can be used on wet and dry hair as a leave-in conditioner, to add shine, smooth flyaways, to help prevent breakage, and to aid plaiting. There’s no doubt that this detangling, conditioning, nourishing elixir is great for the horse’s mane and tail, but as per all Honest Horse products, there’s a lot more to it than that.
“I like my horse to look his best at all times, but I’m also really careful about what I use on him,” said Zoe Kiff, founder of Honest Horse and Honest Riders. “I couldn’t find anything that helped support the mane and tail, prevent breakage and make it look exceptional, which was free from silicones. Silicones coat the hair and give a silky feeling, but because of the way they work, they displace water and make hair more likely to break.
“So, we went back to the drawing board. We knew that the product had to be cruelty-free, natural, contain renewable ingredients, eco-friendly and deliver truly exceptional results. Silicone was the first element we needed to replace, and we found that sugar beet, due to the betaine content, really delivered what we needed. We combined this with vitamin E and d-panthenol and the base was formed. We then undertook a long testing process and were just blown away by the results.”
As you’d expect from Honest Horse, the eco-friendly and sustainable points also extend to the packaging, with each bottle being made from aluminium, which can be recycled repeatedly. The pump can be removed and used on future bottles, as refills are also available.
Mane and Tail Elixir is available in bottles with pumps and refills and costs £19.95 and £18.95 respectively.
