MINDSET is now recognised as playing a major role in sport and the success or failure of athletes. June Burgess has agreed to share her expertise on the subject in a series of articles on rider mindset.
JUNE Burgess is a Certified Coach (ICF), Equine Assisted Learning trainer (EAHAE) and Property Developer as well as an international equestrian.
She has competed in over 60 international eventing competitions on nine of her home-produced horses, has show jumped to mini GP level and won side saddle at Dublin Horse Show.
She owned and co-produced ‘Mighty Nice’ from a three to eight-year-old, which won bronze at Rio Olympics and she qualified for the British Championships in 2016, as well as winning many competitions in Ireland, England, Scotland and Europe. All this alongside a full-time, non-horsey career in the construction and hospitality industry.
From 2004 until 2009, June directed Ballygraffan International Horse Trials, which was televised on SkySports.
She has been coaching rider mindset for almost 10 years, having struggled for many years with her own mind while competing.
June brings her horse and coaching experience together in her company, Horses For People, which specialises in equine assisted coaching for stress reduction, resilience and Leadership from her home farm at Ballygraffan.
June also runs Ballygraffan Cross-country schooling and one of her greatest achievements was to be invited to perform a horse-themed TEDx in 2018 (www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mxHF1diV6I)
