SPERRIN Trec welcomed a large field of junior riders to join the adults for the fun at the first leg of their Trec Ireland affiliated 2022 PTV League on Saturday, July 2 in Desertmartin.
It was the first leg of three for their Summer PTV League and also the first event for some time with spectators and a good day out was had by all.
PTV is the obstacle phase of Trec and the riders individually negotiated 16 obstacles, both inside and outside the arena.
The day began with a detailed guided course walk to learn exactly what was expected at each obstacle and how to earn their points. Many were competing for the first time, but every single rider earned points out on the course.
Even the Open competition riders were faced with new challenges, as every PTV course is different. The standard 16 Trec obstacles in a PTV are chosen by the course designer from any of 43 different obstacles in the Trec Ireland data sheets and they can be combined in any order.

The next leg of the PTV League will be on Saturday, September 24 and all are welcome. Look for Sperrin Trec on FB or email: SperrinTrec@gmail.com. Challenge yourself and your horse or take the course handy. The choice is yours.
