Kilco support for Dungannon dairy sale

TAAFFE Auctions has confirmed that there are 114 pedigree Holstein females catalogued for the Kilco-sponsored Dungannon Dairy Sale on Thursday, February 21.

“This month’s sale catalogue features an entry of 102 fresh calved heifers and young cows from many of the country’s top herds. We are also selling a special entry of 12 heifer calves from the Glastry Farm Herd based in Kircubbin.”

Herds represented in the catalogue include Aghyaran, Ardmore, Bannwater, Beechview, Carrowcroft, Inch, Killane and Lisnagore.

Rounding off the milking portion of the sale are 21 fresh calved heifers from Will and Gareth Taylor’s Glastry Farm Herd; 15 fresh calved heifers and young cows from the Patton family’s Ards Herd; 12 from the McLean family’s noted Relough prefix; 11 fresh heifers from the Annalong Herd of Wesley and David Gordon, and 10 heifers from Philip and Simon Haffey’s Glasson Herd at Portadown.

The animals on offer are bred from leading AI sires such as Penmanship, Afterburner, Supershot, Hurricane, Solaris, Supershire, Rubicon, Silver, Denver, Morgan, Nadal and Trix.

The heifer calves are born between December and January, and are daughters of bulls such as Westcoast Perseus, Westcoast Galahad, Wa Del Yoder Bandares, Pine Tree Mod Kennedy 713, and Claynook Casper.

The pre-sale show commences at 10.30am, with judging in the capable hands of Gareth Smyth from the noted Ballyweaney Herd based at Cloughmills, County Antrim. The sale will get underway at 11.30am sharp.
