THE County Londonderry section of the annual Build It competition, organised by the YFCU, was hosted at the Northern Counties Co-operative Ltd Swatragh Livestock Mart yard.
Weather was perfect and the 10 YFC teams representing Dungiven, City of Derry, Moneymore with three teams, Garvagh with two teams and Coleraine, and Kilrea with two teams, had a great time constructing Bug Houses in just over one hour of imagination and joinery.
The design had to include three closed sides, a pitched roof, and be free standing on four support legs. Internal features to encourage bug occupation were also important.
Organisers were Stuart Mills, county chairman, Moneymore YFC, and Melissa Millar, Kilrea YFC, county secretary. Judge was Kilrea joiner Mark Pollock. Materials were supplied by Grassroots, Belfast. The winner proceeds to the NI finals to take place at the Castlewellan Agricultural Show on July 14.
