A few Northern Ireland ploughmen crossed the water to take part in the Wigtownshire and District open ploughing match.
The weather conditions were far from kind, in sharp contrast to the warm welcome the ploughmen received. However, despite the cold wind and rain, the site ploughed reasonably well.
Hexham’s Reg Wilkinson won the vintage and was the overall champion, but there was Northern Ireland success with Frankie Davidson, Raloo village, Larne, and Marc Gamble, Ballynure, tying for third, closely followed by Steven Weatherup, Magheramorne.
Nigel Gamble, Ballynure, was runner-up in the Classic class.
