SATURDAY’S (August 6) production sale of Texel gimmers from the Loosebeare and Whitehart flocks saw a 3600gns high.
Topping the trade was the sale leader from father and daughter duo Jim and Nicola Hartright’s Whitehart entry. This daughter of Teiglum Cosmic is out of a dam by Loosebeare Voomer and sold following spirited bidding to Alistair Morton, Lanarkshire.
Second best at 2000gns was one from the Quick family’s Loosebeare consignment. Again sired by Teiglum Cosmic, she is out of a Loosebeare All Gold-sired dam and stayed in the south west, joining Angus Howie’s Millhouse flock at Cheriton Bishop, Devon.
After that came another from Loosebeare at 1850gns. She’s by Cosmic again and is out of a dam by Hollyford Vroom Vroom, which is also dam to the £5,000 Loosebeare Digger. She sold to join the Robinson family’s Preenbank flock, Church Stretton, Shropshire.
Selling at 1200gns was another from Whitehart, again by Cosmic, she is out of a Blackadder Weaver daughter and was the pick of the Dorrell family, Stonegrove Livestock, Shrawley, Worcestershire.
Averages: Loosebeare 25 gimmers £808.92, Whitehart 24 gimmers 885.94 (McCartneys).
