MY name is Alison Donaghy and I am currently studying at CAFRE’s Loughry Campus. I first heard about food courses at Loughry at a presentation that was delivered in my school about courses at CAFRE. When I carried out further research on the National Diploma courses offered at Loughry I knew I found a course I wanted to study!

After I finished my GCSEs, I was delighted to confirm a place on the National Diploma in Food, Nutrition and Health which I started studying in September 2018. I am really enjoying the course I am studying. Loughry is a great place to study due to its great facilities, the practical nature of its courses and its strong industry links. My favourite units so far have been Human Anatomy and Physiology, and the Science units.

I am really looking forward to completing my work placement during the summer when I will gain experience working in the food industry for 12 weeks. This experience will give me the opportunity to apply the knowledge and practical skills I have developed during first year to the real world!

When I graduate from my National Diploma in June 2020, I would like to continue studying at Loughry and hope to apply for the BSc (Hons) in Food Innovation and Nutrition.

For anyone thinking about studying at Loughry, my advice is to go for it! Choosing to study here has been the best decision I have ever made.
