Clandeboye Estate, Northern Ireland’s yoghurt maker and winner of the Producer of the Year Award in the prestigious UK Quality Food Awards, has signed a new distribution deal that will lead to significant growth in the Republic of Ireland.
Clandeboye has been listed by Dublin-based IBWG which distributes to a vast network of convenience stores, especially Spar and Mace stores, and trade customers in the Republic.
The new deal is for its range of larger pots such Clandeboye’s Madagascan Vanilla Greek Style yoghurt, winner of the UK Produce of the Year and Best Yoghurt titles in the recent UK Quality Awards. The other yoghurts listed are Clandeboye Natural Yoghurt and Natural Greek Style Yoghurt.
“Penetrating the extensive market in the Republic and growing our customer base there has been an objective this year particularly given the challenges of Brexit,” explains Bryan Boggs, Clandeboye general manager. “We know that consumers will love the quality and taste of our core product range made with milk produced from our award-winning herd.”
The company, based on the historic Clandeboye Estate, already creates fruit infused yoghurts for Aldi-Ireland’s 140 supermarkets there.
A growing customer base and prestigious award win could not have come at a better time for company as the team makes the finishing touches to the new creamery which will see production move to the heart of the estate early in 2022.
“There are exciting times ahead for Clandeboye Estate Yoghurt, the increased capacity and sustainability benefits of our new production facility on the farm puts our business in an excellent position to continue to expand and create new jobs for the area in the New Year,” adds Bryan.
Crowned overall ‘UK’s Best Product of the Year 2021’, Clandeboye’s Madagascan Vanilla Greek Style Yoghurt stole the show at this year’s Quality Food Awards becoming one of only a few products from Northern Ireland to have taken the overall title since the annual awards were launched over 40 years ago. The awards celebrate excellence in food quality and are designed to recognise and reward those products that lead the way in the market.
“Of course, we were delighted to win the Dairy category,” Bryan continues, “but when news came that our Madagascan Vanilla Yoghurt had actually come out on top across all the products and category winners we were obviously over the moon! There’s no doubt that a Quality Food Award opens up new opportunities for small producers like Clandeboye. It is a great boost as we enter a very exciting phase in our development to know that we have been judged as the best there is in the UK by the discerning panel of experts.”
