THROUGHOUT the year, Ardnacashel Equestrian in Comber run a mid-week training show. This is a popular event for riders and horses of all abilities, with a new course each week and loads of support on the ground from spectators cheering competitors on and staff helping anyone who needs and extra hand.
Wednesday, July 6 was no exception and it was a lovely evening to spend jumping around the newly built course.
Starting the evening with the 60cm class, the first rider Ethan Murpy rode a perfect clear on ‘Dan the Man’, with Maisie Elliott on ‘Moonlight’ and Jasmin Beattie on ‘Just Winston’ following suit.
In the 70cm class, organisers were delighted to see Poppy Smith and ‘Paddy’ returning to the arena, with a round so fast nobody else came close!
Olivia Hughes rode ‘Marmaduke’ and ‘Nancy’ in the 80cm class, but it was ‘Nancy’ who won the class, followed by Rachel Booth on ‘Crissy’. A change of pony to ‘Chester’ for the 90cm, saw Rachel Booth move to first place in a strong 90cm class.
The evening ended with Emma Jackson, the owner of Glasdrumman Stud, riding one of Ardnacashel’s own stallions the Irish Draught ‘Ardnacashel Monarch’ into first place in the 1m class.
