A number of well known personalities in the local agricultural industry have been honoured in the New Year’s Honours List.
Ian James Marshall was awarded an OBE for public and political service. Ian was President of the Ulster Farmers’ Union from 2014-16 and subsequently entered the world of politics when elected to the Seanad Eireann in Dublin in 2018, losing his seat in the 2020 election.
Trevor William Lockhart, Chief Executive Officer of Fane Valley
Co-operative Society Ltd, was awarded an MBE for services to the agri-food industry and the economy. Trevor joined Fane Valley from the Ulster Farmers’ Union in 2004, rising to CEO in 2007.
Elizabeth Anne Morrison, recently retired director of the Aberdeen Angus Quality Beef Ltd, Northern Ireland, was awarded an MBE for services to the promotion of the Aberdeen Angus breed and to agriculture.
Terence Adams McKeag, received a BEM for services to agriculture and to equestrian sport in Northern Ireland, while Mairead Angela Savage from the Forest Service also received a BEM for services to forestry.
