Another country has been added to the list of those with which the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster arrange annual exchange visits between individual members.
The first Ulster-Netherlands exchange commenced yesterday when Wilma Munnis, a member of Kilraughts Young Farmers’ Club, flew to Holland to be the guest of the Plattelands Jongeren Gemeenschap Nederland (Dutch Young Farmers’ Association) for three months.
Wilma, who is 22 years old, has been a YFC member for seven years, and has won 35 proficiency awards covering public speaking, group debating, craftwork and stock judging.
At present secretary of Kilraughts YFC, she has previously held office as assistant secretary and as assistant leader in the Junior YFC.
During her stay in Holland, Wilma will be the guest of farming families, and will be comparing their methods with those of her own family, who have a 70-acre mixed farm at Lavin, Knockahollet, Ballymena.
