NORTHERN Lights NI Riding Club had such a good fun show on February 14 that it had to go back to Eglinton Equestrian Centre on Sun-
day, May 15, for another show jumping show. The spectators and riders all made it a great day.
For some of the jockeys it was their debut show and one young rider, Mia Sweeney with her pony ‘Rosie’, was delighted to get their first rosette. Ellie Gordon took first place in the 30/40cm pony class and her smile said it all; Ellie was ecstatic. Blain Lynch had his new horse ‘Bouzer’ out for their debut show and rode fantastically. Young riders Liam Kelly and Sean Farren were kept busy with their multiple mounts out supporting Northern Lights. Club member Maya Taylor was delighted with her win in the cross-poles class, taking home a rug for ‘The Gypsy King’; congratulations to all!
There were fabulous entries, so organisers were delighted to be able to give such fitting prizes – this would not have been possible without the generosity of the valued sponsors, which included:
Lodge Hotel, Coleraine – The Lodge Hotel doesn’t really need any introduction, as it has been a focal point in Coleraine for many years.
Nature’s Dawn Ireland (Gerard O’Neill) – Producer of organic CBD Oils for equines, dogs and cats.
Letterloan Agri, Coleraine – Letterloan Agri is a local equine and agri supplies store in the north coast area.
Ritchie’s Equestrian and Country Store Tamlaght Road, Rasharkin – A new equestrian supply and country store providing equestrian and smallholder feeds, bedding, supplements.
Bellisle Equestrian Store Coleraine is a new equestrian shop located between Coleraine and Limavady on the Isle Road, Bellisle stock a wide range of products, brands and feed.
Steele’s Farm Supplies, Ballymoney – is a family run agricultural business, established since 1988. Catering for the agricultural sector, stocking a wide range of supplies for the farm and home and much more.
Gareth’s Takeaway, Coleraine, offer some of the tastiest fish and chips in the UK – on their menu you can find all your chip shop favourites, all of which can be ordered on their website.
Running equestrian shows is especially difficult from the angle of being able to give competitors their well-deserved prizes; with that in mind, organisers are so grateful to all the sponsors for their generosity.
The organising committee would like to express their gratitude to Leslie McFaul and his team at Eglinton for their support, which helped the club to run a relaxed and fun day.
Northern Lights are holding Show jumping Training Shows at RDA Causeway Coast and Glens in Coleraine, starting on Thursday, May 26 at 6pm with cross-poles; if daylight permits, they aim to hold a 1m class.
