DRESSAGE Ireland held the Winter National Ch-ampionships at Castle Irvine, Fermanagh, on April 2-3.
DI Northern Region was well represented with a number of combinations bringing home plac-
ings. In the Prelim Cat 1 Championships Barbara Hanna on her 10yr old ISH Rock Shenanigans placed 3rd, followed by Anya Skilling in 5th place riding Tiz Quality.
Cat 2 was won by Mark Robinson on Deborah Burns’ 9yr old by Metall, Master Caledonia. In 2nd place was Martina McKinley & Will Scarlet (IRE), a 7yr old Thoroughbred.
Cat 3 was won by Joan Adrain on VSH Moviestar, a 5yr old by Johnson owned by Carolyn Mellor.
In the Junior Prelim Cat 1 Hollie Donnan and the Connemara gelding Killoughter Nuggett came 2nd and in Cat 2 Zara Wood and the 5yr old Evaline came 3rd.
Novice Cat 1 was won by Denise Kelly Rice riding Pamela Combs’ Wilsons Forvanna. In 3rd was Barbara Hanna on Rock Shenanigans.
Cat 2 was won again by Mark Robinson and Master Caledonia. Cat 3 was won by Kirsty Jackson and Roundthorn Karma, a 7yr old by Johnson, followed by Fiona Gerring in 2nd with Christus and Joan Adrain in 4th with VSH Moviestar.
In the Junior cat 1 section Hollie Donnan and the 6yr old Suzie Seagry placed 2nd and in the cat 2 section Ellen Mcdonald took the win on Greenfield Apache followed by Erin McCoy in 3rd riding Claire Sedgeman’s Prince Kostolany.
In the Elementary cat 2 Lana Cheney and Confession Z placed 5th, in Cat 3 Lucinda Blakiston Houston riding Beltrim Double G placed 3rd closely followed by Kirsty Jackson & Roundthorn Karma in 4th. The Junior Elem was won again by Ellen Mcdonald & Greenfield Apache with Erin McCoy in 3rd on Cloud atlas.
In Medium cat 2 Ellen Mcdonald took the win on Dante Alighieri followed by Lana Cheney on Confession Z in 3rd & Rebecca McCauley in 4th on Fabiana. In Cat 3 Courtney Stuart & Favorino a 7yr old by Follow Me placed 3rd with Lucy Adams in 5th riding Esdals King W. A.
In the Advanced section Lucinda Blakiston Houston riding Happy Feet 3 took the win. The FEI Pony Championship was won again by Ellen Mcdonald on her Dutch pony Dante Alighieri.
The small tour was won by Laragh OGrady on her own ISH by Jaguar Mail, Mullentine Emerald Wolfe Tone.
A huge well done to all riders for you achievements and organisers look forward to seeing everyone back out at the upcoming shows for the summer league.

DINR are also running a try dressage day for junior riders who are not currently a member of Dressage Ireland. This is a great opportunity to train with an international rider and trainer at a seriously discounted rate.
