After a heavy night’s rain and yellow weather warnings, 27 brave exhibitors headed to Dromore Show hall.
Thanks to all the exhibitors, judges – Artie Rice and Marc Ruymbeke – and special thanks to Pauline Gibson and all of her helpers in the Dromore committee for putting on another show for us all to exhibit at.
With a great entry of 342 exhibits, the eventual Champion selected was a beautiful Buff Orpington pullet which was also Best Large Heavy, exhibited by Andrew Kerr of Clogher Valley Eggs and Poultry. This was the second year that Andrew has won the Dromore Show with his Buff’s.
Reserve Show Champion went to a Dutch bantam, which was also
Best True bantam exhibited by Roberta Hughes.
Roberta has been showing poultry for years along with her husband Jimmy and it was great to see Roberta doing so well.
Other notable winners were Best Light Bantam going to the well know Poland breeder James Weatherup with a laced Poland, Best Large Light went to the family team of McKibbins with another lovely Araucana bird.
Best Bantam Heavy went to young Judith Lyons with a lovely Buff Plymouth Rock bantam cockerel. This bird caught my eye in the morning and I was pleased to see it go to the front.
Best Rare Breed was a beautiful Black Thuringian Large Pullet from Peter Hamill. Jack Hawthorne, a new exhibitor, went on to win Best Novice and also Best Juvenile with his white crested Polands.
The organisers would like to thank Frazer Feeds from Ballinaskeagh, Banbridge, for sponsoring all the Dromore Club shows and Moneyrea Electrics for its special prize cards.
n Next show is on November 23 with East Antrim Bantam Association and the NI Waterfowl Show being held at Slemish Hall, Ballymena.
