THE Crawford Embroidery Dressage League continued on Sunday, July 29 at Gransha Equestrian Centre, near Bangor. It’s a busy time of year for Crawfords, as they get children of all ages kitted out in their school uniforms for the new school term commencing in September. Located near the square in Ards, with ample parking just outside the door, this family-run business is well worth a visit.
Competitors enjoyed having a roof over their heads as the weather took a turn for the worst that weekend. The first class of the day was the Open class, where Lucy Adams and ‘Mr Ben’ cruised to victory with a score of 68% in the FEI junior individual test.
Nicola Tann had a successful day as she partnered her lovely grey horse ‘Greenans Tan’ to victory in the Novice 26 class and earned second place in the Novice 23 class. Megan Hegarty won this Novice class on board ‘Rubioso’, while Shirley Anderson and ‘Fits the Bill’ claimed third.
Suzi McClean had a busy day as she rode three tests. ‘Scooby’ scored a 68% in the Elementary to take the win. This was then followed by a first and a second in the side saddle class and the Senior Prelim class with ‘Simba’. Laura McVeigh partnered the very versatile Connemara mare ‘Hilltop Foggey’ into second place in the side saddle class.
Daline Hamilton’s handsome coloured gelding ‘Dan’ had a victorious day, with a win with Sylvia Henry in the competitive Prelim class, followed by a win with Daline in the Senior Intro class.
Sharon Getty and ‘Carrick Diamond Connie’ recorded a win in the second Senior Prelim class, with Sandra Murray and ‘Alfie’ taking second. A good entry in the young horse class saw Cara Swanson and ‘Ardquin’ clinch victory, just ahead of ‘Pinecroft Ghost’ ridden by Ellie Dickson. Heather McMillan and ‘Rock Carnival’ took third. Cara and ‘Ardquin’ went on to take second in the Senior Intro class.
Winners of the Junior Intro class were Jackson Laing and ‘Geraldine 3’. Charlotte McCullough and ‘Burnished Denman’ were second.
Huge thanks, as always, go to the judges, scribes and scorers. The next dressage show takes place on Saturday, August 18. Check out the Gransha website for full details.
